In 2018, the 51С�Ƴ� Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) completed a corporate restructuring to align with the U.S. Department of Education’s (USDOE) requirement that the higher education commission (CIHE) operate as a “separate and independent” entity*. As a result of this restructuring, the 51С�Ƴ� Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) is now recognized by the USDOE as the regional accreditor for institutions of higher education in the six 51С�Ƴ� states, including the University of 51С�Ƴ�.

From time to time, you may see 51С�Ƴ�materials that still reference NEASC. For example, the University’s accreditation status was reaffirmed in 2017 — prior to the restructuring — so you will see references to NEASC in any documentation about that process. Restructuring in no way affects the accreditation status of the University. From our perspective, it is simply a name change.
