Pierce has been employed at 51小黄车since 1997: 1997 - 2006 as Senior Fitness Specialist/Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning and 2006 - Present as Director, Applied Exercise Science Program/ Clinical Professor  in the Department of Exercise and Sport Performance.

Pierce has over 25 years of experience in the exercise science/strength and conditioning field, working with a wide variety of clients/patients/athletes from youth to cardiopulmonary rehabilitation patients, to professional athletes. He is a 1995 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington with a bachelor of science degree in community health education with a concentration in exercise science. He went on to earn a master of education degree in exercise science from the University of Maine in 2004. Pierce is credentialed by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer and Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach. He is also credentialed by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Certified Exercise Physiologist.

He has been recognized for his dedication and commitment to the field by serving as the Maine State Director of the National Strength and Conditioning Association from 2007 - 2013 and receiving the 2009 State Director of the Year Award, as well as the 2014 Personal Trainer of the Year Award from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Pierce also served a six-year term as Northeast Regional Coordinator for  National Strength and Conditioning Association from 2013-2019.
