On Tuesday, March 21, the 51С�Ƴ�community will come together to support students during

Giving Day has become the unofficial kickoff of the end of the academic year. “After a long Maine winter, Giving Day is a fun way for all of us to come together and celebrate all that makes 51С�Ƴ�special while raising important funds for the University,” said Alicia Fereday, vice president of Institutional Advancement.

Each year, members of the 51С�Ƴ�community come forward to offer challenges, matches, and incentives to encourage giving on or before . This year, they are as follows:

• When 850 people make a gift by Tuesday, March 21, the 51С�Ƴ�Board of Trustees will donate an additional $15,000 to support 51С�Ƴ�students.
   
• If you are making your first gift ever or in a really long time, your donation will be matched 100%! ($25,000 in matching funds available!)
   
• When 175 alumni, faculty, professional staff, and students of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) make a gift, Dean Jonathan Millen will take a chilly plunge in the Saco River off of Freddy Beach on March 24. He invites any and all brave Nor’easters to join him!
   
• College of Dental Medicine's Dean Nicole Kimmes challenges the CDM community to "Give Your Year" by making a gift that represents your graduation year. Once the total hits $2,017 (in honor of the first graduating class of CDM), Dean Kimmes will match that with a gift of $2,018 in honor of that class celebrating its 5th Reunion this year!
