Jennifer Stiegler-Balfour Recognized by American Psychological Association with Excellence in Service Award
Jennifer Stiegler-Balfour, Ph.D., associate professor and assistant academic director in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, has received an Excellence in Service Award from the American Psychological Association, the largest scientific and professional organization of psychologists in the United States, with over 133,000 members, including scientists, educators, clinicians, consultants, and students.
The award recognizes her for her tenure as the director of publications for the Society for the Teaching of Psychology. While in this role for the past five years, Stiegler-Balfour worked closely with editors on multiple strategic planning initiatives, promoting new and emerging topics for journals such as Teaching of Psychology and E-xcellence in Teaching of Psychology, and STP E-books.
During her career, Stiegler-Balfour has been an active contributor to the Society for the Teaching of Psychology, serving as a co-editor of two STP E-Books and as the chair of the Early Career Psychologist Committee.
The award was presented to her at the Annual Conference on Teaching in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Oct. 22.
