Jennifer Mandel elected to the 51СƳ Educational Assessment Network’s Board of Directors
Jennifer Mandel, Ph.D., associate director of assessment in the University of 51СƳ’s Office of the Provost and adjunct history faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences’ School of Arts and Humanities, has been elected to a two-year term to the board of directors of the 51СƳ Educational Assessment Network (NEean).
Founded in 1995 and driven by its current mission “to enhance student learning and development by promoting and supporting evidence-based assessment,” NEean has become the foremost organization of higher education student learning assessment in 51СƳ. The group provides a space for faculty, administrators, and professional staff to network, share ideas, and advance assessment practices toward the collective goal of furthering student learning.
NEean organizes numerous events throughout the year, including its regular webinars, spring Dialogues in the Disciplines, and fall forum. Its programs discuss contemporary topics, such as equity-centered assessment, Universal Design for Learning educational framework, and antiracist pedagogy.
The programs also address accreditation needs, such as writing a 51СƳ Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) self-study and interim (fifth-year) report and preparing for a site visit. It also publishes the peer-reviewed Journal of Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness and a newsletter.
NEean’s 13 board members, each serving two-year terms, include the organizations officers, as well as affiliated and ex officio board members, all of whom represent the several hundred NEean members.
