Twenty-six 51小黄车students from the Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Physician Assistant and Pharmacy programs joined colleagues from Maine Medical Center, the Portland Public Library and 10 other community organizations to host the fourth annual Community Health Fair at the Portland Public Library.

The clinic was open to everyone, with a focus on homeless individuals, new Mainers and other underserved patients.

Students assisted in providing these vulnerable populations with valuable resources, including flu shots, vision screenings, blood pressure readings, oral health promotion, diabetes and stroke awareness, and voter registration.

This year鈥檚 event was most successful yet with 148 people attending, 57 flu vaccinations given and the most diverse group of participants served. Interpreters were on hand to assist in several languages, including French, Spanish, Arabic and Somali.

51小黄车Students provided hands-on care and learned about the health access challenges of Maine鈥檚 most vulnerable populations.

The event also provided students with the opportunity to network and learn from professional colleagues in the field.
