Stephen Burt invited to participate in environmentally themed art show
Greenhut Galleries in Portland is presenting 鈥淢AN-MADE: A State of Nature,鈥 an environmentally themed invitational show with a focus on the social and cultural aspects of climate change.
Stephen Burt, B.F.A., M.F.A., chair and associate professor in the Department of Creative and Fine Arts, has been invited to display some of his works at the exhibit, along with 22 other artists.
The artists were asked to submit work that creates awareness, stimulates dialogue, explores ethical issues and implications, comments on or seeks to change human behavior towards other species, and encourages long-term respect for the natural systems with which we coexist.
Works range from oil paintings to photographs, ceramics and more.
The show was recently featured in the . Daniel Kany wrote, "For the viewer, this feels like the best of both worlds: good art with a meaningful message. Stephen Burt鈥檚 鈥淣ew Horizon鈥 is an 8-by-10 watercolor that looks like what you might have gotten if Renaissance great Albert Durer had tried to interpret one of ukiyo-e master Hokusai鈥檚 great storm scenes."
The exhibit runs from February 7 through March 2.
