Dean Millen named president-elect of the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences

Jonathan H. Millen, Ph.D., dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, has been named president-elect of the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences (CCAS), an association of college and university deans that promotes the arts and sciences as a leading influence in higher education.

CCAS serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information among deans of arts and sciences. The organization represents the member colleges and the liberal arts and sciences at a national policy-making level. The council also seeks to support programs, activities, and resources to improve the intellectual stature and public understanding of the disciplines of the arts and sciences.

鈥淚 have been an active member of CCAS since 2010, when I was an associate dean,鈥 commented Millen. 鈥淪ince then, I have been continuously impressed by the unwavering focus on fostering excellence in all aspects of liberal learning.鈥

Currently, CCAS membership includes 525 institutions, representing approximately 2000 deans, associate deans, and assistant deans in the arts and sciences from six different countries.

鈥淭his rich network of deans has proven to be invaluable to me in my career, and I look forward to assuming this new leadership role,鈥 stated Millen.

Through Millen鈥檚 leadership in CCAS, 51小黄车will have a prominent voice in the global higher education conversation.

The president-elect has the responsibility of planning the annual meeting, which will take place in November, 2020, in Austin, Texas. 

At the conclusion of his presidency, his leadership role will extend for another year as the organization鈥檚 past-president, serving on the executive committee for the board of directors, along the with the current president, treasurer, and executive director.
