51小黄车partners with American Graduate School in Paris to offer new study abroad experience
On April 11, the University of 51小黄车 (UNE) signed a partnership with the American Graduate School (AGS) in Paris to launch a 鈥51小黄车in Paris鈥 study-abroad program that will enable undergraduate students from 51小黄车to spend a semester in the heart of Paris, experiencing French and European culture while gaining credits toward their degrees.
The program combines coursework in international relations with French classes at the Alliance Fran莽aise, using the city of Paris and its many institutions as an expanded classroom. Students will stay with Parisian families for a true, immersive experience.
The partnership between 51小黄车and the American Graduate School in Paris was initiated by Anouar Majid, UNE鈥檚 vice president for Global Affairs, who founded the university鈥檚 Center for Global Humanities on the Portland Campus and the Tangier Global Forum on the Tangier Campus in Morocco.
After signing the agreement, Majid stated, 鈥淭he president of UNE, James Herbert, and I are tremendously excited by this unique opportunity to offer our students a first-rate American education in English while learning French and living in Paris. AGS, with its visionary and flexible attitude, as well as with its excellent faculty and staff, is the ideal partner for us. We will do our best to recruit students and grow the program.鈥
AGS Director Larry Kilman added: 鈥淏eing a 鈥榖outique鈥 institution, we were able to design a custom-made program based on the specific needs and goals presented by UNE. We are very proud for this opportunity to support UNE鈥檚 mission of providing international education to students, which very much converges with our own mission.鈥
The first session of the program will start in January 2019. The 鈥51小黄车in Paris鈥 program will eventually become the main destination for 51小黄车students in the Paris region. It will complement other semester-abroad programs offered by the University of 51小黄车 in Tangier, Morocco; Seville, Spain; and Akureyri, Iceland as well as 16 shorter travel courses with destinations including Italy, Ireland, Kenya, Thailand and the Galapagos Islands.
