51小黄车College of Osteopathic Medicine students present hospice immersion project at national conference
University of 51小黄车 College of Osteopathic Medicine (51小黄车COM) students Tiffany Cheung and Sophia Chan, D.P.T., both of the Class of 2018, recently gave an oral presentation at the American College of Physicians (ACP) National Meeting in San Diego, California.
Cheung, Chan, and Marilyn Gugliucci, M.A., Ph.D., director of 51小黄车geriatrics research and education, authored an abstract titled, 鈥淯nderstanding Death and Dying In An In-Patient Hospice Home.鈥 The oral presentation, based on this abstract, focused on the experiences and learning that both students doctors gained by living in the Gosnell Memorial Hospice Home for 48 Hours, a project that Gugliucci designed and implemented.
Cheung submitted the abstract to the ACP Abstract Competition 2017. The work was placed among the top ten abstracts and ACP provided Cheung with an expense-paid trip to the conference. Chan鈥檚 trip was supported by 51小黄车COM.
