Mahvish Junaidi, M.D., M.P.H. 鈥17, of the University of 51小黄车 Graduate Programs in Public Health, gave a presentation at the Maine Public Health Association conference based on the capstone paper she developed for her practicum course titled, 鈥淐oordination of Care to Improve the Delivery of Mental Health Services in Rural Maine.鈥

In rural areas, availability, accessibility, and acceptance of mental health services complicate the delivery of mental health services. Junaidi鈥檚 study determined the prevalence of depression as seen at a critical access hospital in a rural community in Maine, and identified opportunities for collaboration between providers of primary care and mental health services in the community.
