51小黄车professor contributes to Team USA鈥檚 success at Women's World Ice Hockey Championships
University of 51小黄车 clinical professor and director of the athletic training program, Wayne R. Lamarre, recently returned from a successful bid for Gold with the USA Women's National Ice Hockey Team at the 2016 IIHF World Championship in Kamloops, British Columbia.
USA went undefeated in the tournament, defeating teams from Finland, Russia and their archrival Canada twice. Although Canada holds more Olympic Gold Medals in Women's Ice Hockey than the U.S., team, USA has beaten the Canadians in six of the last seven World Championship tournaments.
Lamarre was part of a five-member medical staff that supported the team throughout the event and reports that his travels, although exhausting at times, were well worth it: "I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with such an elite group of athletes, coaches, and staff,鈥 said Lamare. 鈥淚t was clearly a team effort and the amount of time and energy devoted to this type of success clearly paid off for the team. I look forward to working with them in the future and sharing the experience with our students."
The USA Hockey Women's Program will return to 51小黄车this summer, where they will host the best young players in the U-18 division for a development camp in June.
