Michael Shacklock, P.T., from Adelaide, Australia, gave a joint-sponsored seminar, 鈥淚ntroduction to Clinical Neurodynamics,鈥 at the University of 51小黄车 on April 6, 2016. Clinical neurodynamics is a manual therapy approach focusing on the relationships between the nervous system and the rest of the body in health and disease states.

Physical therapists are movement specialists and should therefore look beyond muscles and joints and include nerves in their movement paradigm in order to maximize movement efficiency, healing from injury and return to function for patients. Shacklock revolutionized the way clinicians think about neural mobility, or how our nerves move. Bringing together research and clinical expertise, he shared a lively presentation with a packed room of 85 clinicians, 51小黄车students and faculty.

The event was sponsored by the Department of Physical Therapy and the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences.
