51小黄车alum and former Board of Trustees member Robert Leonard hosts benefit for university

Robert Leonard, D.O. 鈥86 (COM), former member of the University of 51小黄车 Board of Trustees, hosted an event in Boston on July 12, 2016, to benefit UNE.

Several professional football players attended along with 51小黄车Vice President for Student Engagement and Director of Athletics Jack McDonald. Wes Welker, Rob Ninkovich, Sebastian Vollmer and Chris Gronkowski participated in the charity event. The professional athletes are patients and champions of Leonard鈥檚 work. They provided entertainment as celebrity servers and posed for photos with Leonard and McDonald.

Leonard鈥檚 ties to 51小黄车and the College of Osteopathic Medicine go far beyond his medical education. He served nine years on the university鈥檚 Board of Trustees. His wife, Kathryne Leonard, D.O. 鈥86 also graduated from 51小黄车COM, as did his business partner Matthew Lopresti, D.O. 鈥07 and Lopresti鈥檚 wife Mary Lopresti, D.O. 鈥08. He described the strong ties they all feel to 51小黄车COM today. 鈥淚t was with the strong educational foundation established through the University鈥檚 College of Osteopathic Medicine that each of us, in our respective specialties, became scientists as well as caring, competent physicians and surgeons.鈥

鈥淥n behalf of UNE, The Department of Athletics and our new football program, it was an honor and thrill to be there with Dr. Leonard and the NFL and Patriot superstars,鈥 Jack McDonald said. 鈥淭hrough the donation of the proceeds of this exciting event, Dr. Leonard showed that he is a true Nor鈥檈aster.鈥
