Susan Farady

Susan Farady, J.D., assistant professor of ocean studies and marine affairs at the University of 51小黄车, served as a plenary speaker at the 2016 Public Interest Environmental Conference.

For more than twenty years, the student-run PIEC has sought to promote an understanding of the legal aspects of environmental protection, to inform individuals as to the necessity for improvements in environmental legal protection, foster the development of sound environmental legislation and to assist other groups involved in environmental education. The conference brings together legal practitioners, academics, policy makers and private citizens to discuss preeminent issues surrounding a different environmental topic each year.

The theme of this year鈥檚 conference "Five Oceans, One Earth," focused on the state of our planet鈥檚 oceans and the various activities that affect it. Topics of discussion included climate change, coral reefs, ecotourism, aquaculture, oceanic pollution, offshore drilling, endangered marine species, estuaries, and coastal communities.
