Medical Biology student Charlotte Esancy featured in Maine Medical Center’s neuroscience newsletter
After spending her summer volunteering with the Ambassador Program, Charlotte Esancy, (CAS, ’18) has been highlighted in Maine Medical Center’s Neuroscience Institute newsletter.
Designed to further the mission of Maine Medical Center, the Ambassador Program promotes a culture of patient-centered care, emphasizing service and compassion from the moment a patient enters the hospital.
As a Volunteer Ambassador, Esancy worked to alleviate the stress of patients by visiting them, proactively addressing questions and listening to their concerns. Speaking with patients and their families about topics ranging from external struggles to spirituality to staff resources at the hospital, she helped to ease anxiety and provide support.
Esancy is extending her volunteer service this fall. In addition to her work with patients, she will be attending neuroscience board meetings to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the department.
