Local media report on UNE鈥檚 federal grant to improve rural Maine health care
The Journal Tribune, Mainebiz, MPBN and WABI have covered the story of UNE鈥檚 five-year, $2.5 million federal grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration to improve health care in underserved Maine communities, in partnership with Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC).
A total of 255 51小黄车students from the medical, physician assistant and pharmacy programs will complete training at PCHC, learning the interprofessional skills necessary for comprehensive, team-based care. 51小黄车faculty will work onsite with 30 PCHC clinicians, preparing them to become clinical faculty for these new proficiencies. Dora Anne Mills, M.D., UNE鈥檚 vice president for Clinical Affairs, director of the Center for Excellence in Health Innovation is the grant鈥檚 principal investigator and chief author.
The grant starts July 1, 2016 and runs through June 30, 2021.
