Jon Ryder co-authors study in oral surgery journal
Jon Ryder, D.D.S., M.S., dean of the College of Dental Medicine, has been published in the Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology Journal (OOOO).
The paper, titled 鈥淭he Efficacy of Botulinum Toxin for the Treatment of Trigeminal and Post-Herpetic Neuralgia: A Systematic Review with Meta-analyses鈥 discusses the treatment of nerve pain with Botulinum toxin type A (BoTN-A).
Ryder and his colleagues specifically examined the efficacy of BoTN-A when used as a treatment for patients with trigeminal neuralgia (TN) or post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN). Their research found BoTN-A to be an effective treatment in reducing pain for patients with TN and PHN, which agrees with prior published reviews on this topic.
Ryder鈥檚 co-authors in the study were Thomas Shackleton, D.D.S., M.S.; Saravanan Ram, D.D.S., M.S.; Misty Black, D.D.S., M.S.; Glenn T. Clark, D.D.S., M.S., and Reyes Enciso, Ph.D.
