Dora Mills quoted in ‘Bangor Daily News’ article about infant deaths
Dora Anne Mills, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, UNE’s vice president for clinical Affairs and director of the Center for Health Innovation, was interviewed by the Bangor Daily News about an increase in infant mortality in Maine.
According to the article, the infant mortality rate in Maine has been increasing since the 1990s, with the state ranking 37th in the country. “If I were given the choice of only one piece of data to measure the health of a society, it would be infant mortality, since it is an indicator of the health of three populations that are very vulnerable — infants, pregnant women and postpartum women — all of whom need the support of their society for optimal outcomes,” Mills said.
