Dora Mills interviewed on Portland and Bangor radio stations about Zika virus
On February 26, Dora Anne Mills, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, vice president for Clinical Affairs and the director of the Center for Excellence in Health Innovation, was a featured guest on two radio talk shows, the 鈥淜en and Mike Show鈥 on WGAN in Portland and the 鈥淕eorge Hale and Ric Tyler Show鈥 on WVOM in Bangor.
In light of Maine鈥檚 first recorded case of the Zika virus, Mills gave an overview of the illness and answered questions from the audience.
Having served for years as Maine鈥檚 state health officer and as Maine鈥檚 state epidemiologist, Mills compared the emergence of the Zika virus to other emerging diseases, stating, 鈥淚n an era of improved disease tracking and with better ways to disseminate information on emerging diseases, we are much more aware of possible threats, but that does not mean there is any reason to panic.鈥
She strongly recommended that anyone planning to travel outside of the country check the
