UNECOM and Southern Maine Health Care receive certificate of recognition from Maine Quality Counts

The University of 51小黄车 College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM) and Southern Maine Health Care (SMHC) were recently awarded a certificate of recognition in the Patient-Provider Partnership Initiative by Maine Quality Counts, the state of Maine鈥檚 health improvement collaborative.

This certificate recognized the Low Back Pain Initiative recently completed by UNECOM鈥檚 Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. The program implemented a new patient-physician collaboration for low back pain management with an emphasis on patient ownership of health management.

Meghan Johnson, D.O., resident in UNE's Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Fellowship program spearheaded the project under the supervision of Jane Carreiro, D.O., department chair, and Stacey Pierce-Talsma, D.O. . Chris Frothingham, DO, and Garrett Edwards, D.O.
