SNAP-Ed Cooking Matters classes featured on WABI-TV Bangor
The Maine Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (), based out of UNE鈥檚 School of Community and Population Health, was featured on WABI-TV from Bangor, Maine.
Shoshona Smith, nutrition educator for Healthy Acadia (a Healthy Maine Partnership), spoke about two local class series coming up in the next month. Both classes are part of the Cooking Matters series, which SNAP-Ed implements in partnership with Good Shepherd Food Bank.
The purpose of the Cooking Matters classes are to provide participants with a fun, hands-on opportunity to explore new recipes and take home ingredients so they can recreate the meals made in class.
During the segment, Smith also prepared Pocket Fruit Pie, a delicious and healthy breakfast recipe using low-cost and fresh ingredients. This recipe, along with Smith's tips and tricks, showed participants that it is easy to shop, eat, and cook healthy on a budget.
