'Maine Today' review calls ‘Portraits of the Artists’ exhibition ‘remarkable’
On December 2, 2015, Maine Today featured a review of the 51СƳArt Gallery’s current exhibition “Portraits of the Artists,” which is curated by Stephen Halpert.
Referring to the exhibition as “remarkable,” the review noted that it includes portraits of writers, actors, painters, composers and filmmakers of the 20th century, including international figures such as James Joyce and Bob Dylan, as well as local artistic celebrities.
According to the review, the show, which is open through February 7, has received a great deal of attention in the short time it has been open. Anne Zill, director of the Art Gallery, who was interviewed for the review, said that the show “has a global reach because of the subjects…And at the same time, it celebrates the artists living among us now in our communities.”
“It does so masterfully,” she added.
