Judy Kimball helps children with sensory processing disorders at Camp Avanti
Judy Kimball, Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA, professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy, will be donating her time to Camp Avanti in Hudson, Wisconsin on June 24 to July 4.
Camp Avanti is an organization dedicated to helping children with sensory processing disorders. It provides an intensive 24-hour treatment model in a beautiful overnight camp setting. Activities include a climbing wall, arts and crafts, music and campfires, all which aim to provide therapy for sensory defensiveness and coordination issues.
Kimball will be responsible for designing and administering a standardized intake and post-camp assessment of each child who attends the camp. She will also provide cranial sacral therapy for children in need, and will help train the 鈥減racticum鈥 occupational therapists who come to camp to learn this treatment model.
Prior to the camp, a workshop will be held for therapists to discuss the latest trends in sensory integration treatment. Kimball will serve as a respondent for each speaker at this event.
