David Livingstone Smith to be featured expert in new History Channel mini-series, 'The Last Days of the Nazis'
David Livingstone Smith, Ph.D., professor of philosophy and author of several books, including Less Than Human: Why We Demean, Enslave and Exterminate Others, is one of the experts featured in a six-part mini-series "The Last Days of the Nazis," which will air on the History Channel this month and next. The series premieres on April 21, 2015, at 9:00 p.m. ET.
"The Last Days of the Nazis" offers a compelling history of Nazism from the perspective of the Nazis, themselves. It uses the interrogations of Nazis, which were conducted by the thousands in 1945 by the Allies, to bring to life the stories of Nazi death camp commandants, doctors, generals, architects and members of the Hitler Youth.
Smith provides commentary on the testimony of various Nazis, including Albert Speer, Adolf Hitler鈥檚 chief architect and Minister of Armaments and War Production; Julius Streicher, author of three anti-Semitic children鈥檚 books and publisher of the Nazis' propaganda-laden newspaper Der St眉rmer; and Oskar Dirlewanger, founder and commander of one of the most infamous SS military units, known for its extreme brutality.
According to the History Channel鈥檚 website, the program offers "an inside look at the minds and motivations of the most evil regime in history."
