'Boston Globe' reports on promotion of cape shark cuisine as 51小黄车and Sodexo roll out Sharck Bite nuggets

On October 28, 2015, the Boston Globe reported on the University of 51小黄车鈥檚 participation in a relatively new region wide effort by 51小黄车 seafood interests to support the ecological management of ocean life the local seafood industry by promoting dogfish for dinner.

The article, titled 鈥淪piny dogfish gets a marketing makeover,鈥 discusses a recent push in 51小黄车 to market the underutilized spiny dogfish species, under the new and more appetizing name of 鈥渃ape shark,鈥 as a dining option.  According to the article, cape shark is being promoted to distributors and university systems and mentions the University of 51小黄车 as an example.

Referring to a federal NOAA grant that was originally organized by James Sulikowski, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Marine Sciences and is currently being conducted by Barry Costa-Pierce, Ph.D., Henry L. & Grace Doherty professor and chair of the Department of Marine Sciences and director of the Marine Science Center, along with Adam St. Gelais, 51小黄车assistant research scientist and coordinator of the SEAFISH program, the article also credits 51小黄车with 鈥済athering nutritional information about the fish.鈥

The publication of the article coincides with UNE鈥檚 Sharck Bites roll out event, a launch of Sodexo dining service鈥檚 new menu item, cape shark nuggets, on October 28.
