UNE鈥檚 CHANNELS program presents at Institute of Medicine in D.C.
UNE鈥檚 Department of Nursing Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funded CHANNELS program was invited to the Institute of Medicine鈥檚 Global Forum on Community-based Health Professions Education on May 1-2, 2014, at The Keck Center, National Academies of Science, Washington D.C.
CHANNELS is a Nursing and Interprofessional Education (IPE) collaboration with the City of Portland鈥檚 Division of Public Health and Portland Community Health Center aimed at improving the health of immigrant communities through team-based innovations in health care.
Jennifer Morton, DNP, MS, MPH, RN, gave a presentation to forum members titled 鈥淪caling up Best Practices in Community Based Health Professions Education,鈥 which highlighted CHANNELS鈥 education, training and service innovations integrating community health workers at all levels.
Malual Mabur, Siyad Ahmed, CHANNELS community health outreach worker, also attended the forum and sat with forum members during deliberations to provide insights to the community health outreach worker model as well as presenting a poster.
Shelley Cohen Konrad PhD, LCSW, presented a poster on the Integrated Curriculum of CHANNELS.
Karen Pardue, PhD, RN, ANEF presented a poster on CHANNELS Population focused Nurse Leader Institute.
The IOM鈥檚 Global Forums bring interprofessional groups of health leaders together to assess, discover and bring recommendations forward in a variety of health care settings.
