Susan Jarmuz-Smith authors handout on educational record security during school emergencies
Susan Jarmuz-Smith, M.S., BCBA, board certified behavior analyst and assistant lecturer in the Department of Psychology, authored a peer-reviewed handout for school personnel on the topic of maintaining educational record security during school emergencies.
The handout focuses on the need for encryption during transmission and storage of educational records accessed via online services during school emergencies and crises, so school personnel can adhere to federal guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) while also disseminating critical information needed to intervene.
The handout is currently highlighted on the main webpage of the National Association of School Psychologists
