Portland Daily Sun reports results of survey conducted by Portland police and UNE鈥檚 School of Social Work
On February 12, 2014, The Portland Daily Sun featured an article on the results of a survey conducted in Portland by the Portland Police Department and the University of 51小黄车鈥檚 School of Social Work. The goal of the survey was to assess how Portland residents perceive crime in the city and its individual neighborhoods.
Tom McLaughlin, Ph.D., associate professor and co-director for the Social Work Center for Research and Evaluation, was interviewed for the article and commented that property crimes are a bigger issue than violent crimes for Portland residents. 鈥淚t does match what the police department is actually focused on,鈥 he noted.
The survey solicited 762 responses from residents, who, according to McLaughlin, comprise a representative sample of all of Portland鈥檚 socio-economic groups.
