Michael Sheldon and William McCormick present at American Physical Therapy Association conference

Michael Sheldon, Ph.D., PT, associate professor and program director for the 51小黄车Department of Physical Therapy, and William McCormick, M.S., PT, co-owner of the Medically Oriented Gym (MOG) in South Portland presented at the American Physical Therapy Association鈥檚 Educational Leadership Conference in Kansas City, MO.

The purpose of the conference is to share innovative educational practices in physical therapy education. Their presentation, 鈥淧reparing Physical Therapy Students to Deliver Interprofessional Community-Based Health Promotion/Disease Prevention Programs: Collaboration Between a DPT Program and a Medically-Oriented Gym鈥 highlighted some of the innovative and interprofessional teaching and learning activities, community health programs and research projects that have been developed between the Department of Physical Therapy and the MOG.

 Feedback from conference attendees affirmed that 51小黄车is participating in cutting-edge work that not only prepares physical therapy students for success in the profession, but also reflects the increasing focus on health promotion, prevention and wellness in the United States.
