鈥業nside Higher Ed' publishes opinion piece by Michael Cripps
Inside Higher Ed published an opinion piece, "The Faculty Administrator," by Michael J. Cripps, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of English.
In the article, Cripps observes that both faculty and administrators "have given up this important leadership ground between the pure faculty role and the managerial-administrative role of deans and provosts."
He makes a case for an expanded, robust conception of contributions that faculty can make within their institutions, arguing that such a conception can help to reduce the ballooning costs of higher education administration, soften divisions between faculty and administration, and keep schools focused on the core mission of higher education: learning.
