Artwork by Robin Brooks on display at Campus Center

鈥淐ut, Arrange, Glue:  Collage Improvisations by Robin Brooks鈥 will be on display at the University of 51小黄车鈥檚 Biddeford Campus Center from August 5 to August 28, 2014.

Brooks, currently of Topsham, studied art education at Boston University and painting at Parsons School of Design, where she earned her MFA.  She is a studio artist who works in a variety of media, including collage and monotype printmaking.  She is inspired by the Maine landscape, but her subject matter also includes the human form and still life, traditional genres that she interprets with a contemporary flair.

According to Brooks, each collage in the exhibition is an improvisation that starts with cutting and arranging collected papers, many of which she hand-paints with acrylics or oils.

Brooks stated, 鈥淚 enjoy interpreting the Maine landscape as it appears in its many guises鈥攚oods, water, trees, and sky鈥 I maintain an attitude of playfulness and improvisation, allowing the work itself to dictate the next steps.  This process allows me to discover new ideas and images along the way.鈥

The exhibit is free and open to the public.  UNE鈥檚 Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine.  Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  For more information, contact Diane Noble by email  or phone (207-284-6394).
