Oil paintings by Anita Clearfield on exhibit at Campus Center
"Now You See It, Now You Don't," a collection of provocative oil paintings by artist Anita Clearfield of Durham, Maine, will be on display at UNE's Campus Center July 1 - August 5, 2013.
Hovering between abstraction and figure painting, Clearfield's canvases reveal bodies that emerge and are consumed by landscape. Viewers often see different figures on each viewing, as the paintings are intended to provoke unique and changing stories.
Clearfield holds an M.F.A. from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and was recently chosen Video Artist-in-Residence by A Room of Her Own Foundation at Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, New Mexico. Clearfield's paintings and video installations have been shown throughout the country, including most recently at the Columbus Museum of Art.
An opening reception will be held Thursday, July 11, 5-7 p.m. in the Campus Center.
The exhibit and opening reception are free and open to the public. UNE's Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact Diane Noble.
