Harsh Patel, Jorge Bolinaga and Nathania Soekamto publish article in ‘Nutrition and Metabolism’
Harsh Patel, Jorge Bolinaga and Nathania Soekamto, all College of Pharmacy students in the class of 2014, recently co-authored an article titled "AMP-activated protein kinase regulates L-arginine mediated cellular responses" that was published in the journal Nutrition and Metabolism. Sri Mohan, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, is their co-author.
The present study provides the fundamental evidence for AMPK as the primary modulator of L-Arginine (ARG) cellular responses and for regulating the mode of glucose accumulation during short-term and continuous ARG treatments. This work helps in better understanding the complex pharmacological consequences of ARG in cardiovascular therapy.
