Press Herald, Sun Chronicle profile Karol L'Heureux, selected for Maine Sports Legends Hall of Honor
The Portland Press Herald and the Sun Chronicle profiled 51小黄车head women's volleyball coach Karol L'Heureux, who has been selected for induction into the Maine Sports Legends Hall of Honor, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at the YMCA of Greater Waterville.
L'Heureux served as 51小黄车director of athletics at 51小黄车from 1980 thru 2006. In her role as AD, she helped significantly increase the program's varsity sport offerings while leading the University in a transition from an NAIA institution to an NCAA Division III member.
In addition to her volleyball coaching experience, L'Heureux previously served as head coach for the women's basketball (14 seasons) and softball (8 seasons) teams. Entering her 33rd season on the volleyball sidelines, she has racked up 631 victories, which ranks her sixth among active NCAA III head coaches and 12th all-time. Her volleyball teams have won 12 conference titles, six district championships, and have made two appearances at national championships.
