Coast Star features story on Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences' brain injury education program

The York County Coast Star featured a story on a 51小黄车Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences (CEN) program that educates K-12 students in local schools on brain injuries. The story focused on Kennebunk High School senior Evan Shuris, who interned with CEN last summer and helped develop an educational model that focuses on brain safety, highlighting the fragility of the human brain and the need to protect it from injury.

Shuris, currently a CEN volunteer, is helping to bring the program into local schools, working with Michael Burman, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology, and with 51小黄车students from the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Westbrook College of Health Professions.

The program is scheduled to reach more than 900 students. It is supported by a grant from the Michael T. Goulet Traumatic Brain Injury and Epilepsy Foundation. .
