Westbook College of Health Professions' Add Verb Productions is focus on WCSH6 feature

The incorporation of the theater group Add Verb Productions as part of UNE's Westbrook College of Health Professions (WCHP) was the focus of a feature on WCSH 6 and WLBZ TV news on Feb. 16, 2011. The unique partnership seeks to address many difficult subjects through the use of theater. The topics of the productions covered range from eating disorders, to dating and relationship issues to the problems health care professionals face screening patients for signs of domestic violence.

"These issues are extremely difficult to talk about. Nobody wants to talk about them, and that is why we use theater as the medium," explained Cathy Plourde, director of Add Verb Productions. Clay Graybeal, WCHP associate dean, added, "They are very complex issues. That is part of why it helps to see it played out and then to talk about it. I have never been to a performance of Add Verb's where the discussion afterward was shorter than the performance, it is always twice as long because the material is provocative, it gets people talking, and it gets them thinking."
