Teresa Dzieweczynski publishes article in Journal of Fish Biology
Teresa Dzieweczynski, Ph.D., an associate professor in the Department of Psychology, has published an article in the current issue of the peer-reviewed journal, Journal of Fish Biology. The article, "Shyness and boldness differences across contexts in juvenile three-spined stickleback Gasterosteus aculeatus from an anadromous population," features a student co-author, Jenna Crovo (MAR '11).
This study is a new avenue of research for Dr. Dzieweczynski and is the first investigation of behavioral syndromes in anadromous stickleback. This study is an important addition to the ongoing study of individual differences in behavior as it serves as a comparison between the ancestral, marine morph of threespine stickleback and the more recent freshwater morphs of this species that are the common subject of behavioral syndrome studies and addresses how and why individuals from these various populations differ from one another. This work was conducted at the Marine Science Center.
