UNE's announcement that it was awarded $3.5 million from the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention toward a teaching clinic for its College of Dental Medicine was covered by a number of state and national media, including the , radio, the , and online media such as the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The funds, along with a $2.3 million leadership commitment from Northeast Delta Dental, will be used to help startup costs associated with opening the first College of Dental Medicine in northern 51小黄车 in the fall of 2013.
