Workshop on Salmon Falls watershed organized by Christine Fuert coverd by Laconia Citizen
Christine Fuert, Ph.D., director of UNE's Center for Sustainable Communities, was quoted in a Nov. 10, 2010 news story in the Laconia Citizen about a workshop on the Salmon Falls watershed that she organized and facilitated. More than 90 water supply managers, municipal staff, planning board and conservation commission members, federal/state agency personnel, and citizens gathered at Spring Hill Conference Center in South Berwick, Maine to learn about the water quality of the Salmon Falls River watershed and to hammer out solutions and plans to address problems facing the rapidly developing region.
Fuert said she was impressed by the number of workshop participants and their enthusiasm. "I have been working with watershed groups for over 15 years and the turnout by municipalities, water districts and small community water systems was strong. I look forward to working with this inspiring group of people as we move to implement their ideas."
