UNE's Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition awards Powerful Youth Mini-Grants
UNE's Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition (CHCC) is excited to announce the awardees of their 2010-2011 Powerful Youth Mini-Grants. The organizations receiving the awards are:
- The School at Sweetser
- School Around Us
- RSU #23/Old Orchard Beach High School
- The New School
The funds support healthy living projects that are focused on increasing youth involvement in accomplishing social, policy, and environmental change to improve youth health. Special focus is being put on activities and policy initiatives around preventing youth tobacco use and reducing/eliminating exposure to secondhand smoke. Groups will also be working on initiatives to promote and encourage physical activity and healthy eating. Projects will be funded from October 2010 through May 2011.
"We are very excited about these four projects," stated CHCC Director Megan Rochelo. "The Powerful Youth Mini-Grant program enables us to support four organizations in empowering their youth to engage in projects that promote youth health."
