Times Record endorses Question 2 dental bond on Nov. 2nd ballot
An editorial in the Oct. 26, 2010 (Brunswick) strongly endorsed a yes vote on the Question 2 dental health bond. The editorial explains: "Question 2 on the Nov. 2 ballot, a $5 million bond package that is intended to help expand dental clinics in Maine and launch a Maine-based dental school, is a modest investment that addresses a serious need in our state. An estimated 250,000 people in Maine live in communities lacking ready access to dental care. That will only get worse, since many dentists in Maine are nearing retirement age." The editorial also noted that UNE, which is raising funds to establish a dental college, will be in a strong position to compete for funds to build a dental clinic as part of the college. The editorial also notes that "the $5 million bond has been endorsed by the Maine Chamber of Commerce, Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce and Dental Care for ME, a statewide coalition of patients, dentists, health-care providers and others."
