Paul Bonneau's art on exhibit at 51小黄车in Biddeford
The University of 51小黄车 is hosting an exhibit of artwork by local artist Paul V. Bonneau at its Campus Center on the Biddeford Campus.
To Bonneau, painting is as much about seeing as it is about technique. "Searching for the truth about a subject and seeing it in relationship to its surroundings is at the heart of my creative endeavor. It is the interpretation and personalization of that truth that I hope will, in turn, reward viewers for their time and effort," says Bonneau. Working in a plein air style, his paintings exhibit simplified forms and "pushed" color, heightening the experience of the subject matter.
Often referred to as a "colorist," Bonneau's work has been included in invitational shows at the New Bedford Art Museum, the Danforth Museum, the Barn Gallery, the Irvine Gallery and the Judi Rotenberg Gallery in Boston and in the collection of the Maine Turnpike Authority. He is represented by the Mast Cove Gallery in Kennebunkport, Maine and the Fore Street Gallery in Portland, Maine.
Bonneau has studied at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Heartwood School of Art and the University of Massachusetts. He has participated in the PBS Television, Maine College of Art, Cape Elizabeth Land Trust and Laudholm Farm Trust benefit auctions.
The exhibit runs from August 9, 2010 until September 3, 2010 and is free and open to the public. The Campus Center hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
