Norma Charette and Elisabeth Haase are presenters at 30th Annual ACCED-I Conference

The University of 51小黄车 was highlighted during the 30th Annual ACCED-I Conference (Association for Collegiate Conference Event Director's International)  held March 21-23, 2010 in Louisville, KY.  The presentation entitled, "Planning for a Disaster: How Event Planners Can Assist Authorities in Responding to Local Emergencies," showcased the successful collaborative efforts used to create and administer the H1N1 POD by a team of professionals from 51小黄车and the state of Maine.  

Presenters included Norma J. Charette, 51小黄车director of Conference Services and Elisabeth Haase, 51小黄车director of Environmental Health & Safety, and Michael W. Radke of the Cities Readiness Initiative, Maine Department of Public Health & Human Services.  These individuals played a key role in UNE's public health emergency planning and response during the 2009-10 H1N1 pandemic. 

The presenters discussed how event planners/managers can successfully utilize multiple partners in a joint effort to develop crowd management and logistical plans in response to an emergency or catastrophic event.
