Brian Duff publishes article in the journal Ethics and Politics
Brian Duff of the Department of Political Science has published his article "The Pragmatics of Parenthood: Rorty and West on the Politics of the Family" in the current issue of the journal Ethics and Politics (Vol. XII, No. 1, 2010).
In the article, Duff argues that ideas about parenthood have become a point of connection where the neopragmatist theorists Richard Rorty and Cornel West have sought to intertwine two of the primary responsibilities of democratic citizenship. Duff argues that this strategy exacerbates rather than mitigates the problems that accompany the political uses of parenthood.
