UNE's Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition announces Powerful Youth Mini-Grant Awardees
UNE's Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition (CHCC) is excited to announce the awardees of its 2009-2010 Powerful Youth Mini-Grants. The organizations receiving the awards are:
- Community Bike Center, Biddeford
- Middle School of the Kennebunks
- Mildred L. Day School, Arundel
- The New School, Kennebunk
- Thornton Academy Middle School, Saco
The funds support healthy living projects that are focused on increasing youth involvement in accomplishing social, policy, and environmental change to improve youth health. Projects will be funded from November 2009 through May 2010.
"We are very excited about these five projects," stated CHCC Director Megan Rochelo. "The Powerful Youth Mini-Grant program enables us to provide five unique organizations additional funds to complement the great work they do with youth in promoting healthier lifestyles and communities."
Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition is a community-based health promotion coalition working to promote tobacco prevention/cessation, substance abuse prevention, physical activity and nutrition in both the community and schools. The coalition is a program of the University of 51小黄车's College of Osteopathic Medicine. CHCC is a Healthy Maine Partnership.
