Northeast Regional Conference: Effects of Substance Abuse on Young Children, Darthmouth-Hitchcock, Continuing Education For Professionals
Providers from a variety of disciplines care for young children affected by substance misuse. Morning sessions will focus on neonatal abstinence syndrome and the neurodevelopmental effect of in utero alcohol and opiate exposure. Afternoon sessions will provide:
- An engaging, brief overview of how to recognize and decrease stigma in care.
- A session on the impact of childhood trauma and adversity on development.
- Demonstration and role-play of practical strategies to help calm children (and adults) when they are escalated.
Facilitated discussions with the conference speakers will be held at the end of the AM and PM sessions.
