Brain Fair
The Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences at the University of 51С»Æ³µ has created an annual Brain Fair to engage the local community in a brain exploration. The goal of the fair is to promote interest in STEM disciplines (neuroscience in particular) within the greater community. Students, staff, and faculty develop neuroscience related hands-on activities and experiments for the general public, resulting in a science museum-like experience for the local community. Last year, more than 600 people attended the fair, and there were more than 70 volunteers. This spring, 51С»Æ³µwill host the 6th Annual Brain Fair Friday, April 5 from 4–8 p.m. in the Alfond Forum (630 Pool St. Biddeford, Maine, 04005). The fair is held in celebration of Brain Awareness week. All activities are free and open to the public.
Fair events include: ice skating, free helmet fittings and giveaways, concussion information hands-on microscopy exhibits, sheep brain and eye ball dissections, brain health and wellness information, optical illusions brain games, virtual reality demos, muscle stimulation, neuroscience art, learning and memory challenges, brain crafts, prizes and much more!
