The Differential Diagnosis of Migraine
Dr. Jay has worked in Pain Medicine since 1980, before it was thought of as a specialty. He worked with Pharma as a consultant, PI and KOL for the first 25 years of his professional career. During that time he was a private practitioner running a tertiary care interdisciplinary pain center. He joined Pharma full time in 2005. He was one of the original thirty founding members of the American Academy of Algology, now the American Academy of Pain Medicine in 1983, and he helped (one of 8) founders of the American Academy of Pain Management, starting in 1988. Dr. Jay has chaired 3 Workers Compensation Department interdisciplinary groups and wrote the diagnostic and treatment aspects of Chronic benign Pain, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and Mild Traumatic Brain Injury, which were passed into law by the State of Colorado in the 1990s.
He is currently the President of the Eastern Pain Association, the first regional pain group started by Dr. John Bonica. He has published over 100 medical articles in peer reviewed journals dealing with headache, pain of all types, the autonomic nervous system and mild traumatic brain injury. He has also published 5 textbooks as well as several medical textbook chapters. He has lectured nationally and internationally for over 30 years. At Pfizer, in New London, CT, his position was Clinical Disease Area Expert-Pain. He then became Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Archimedes Pharma in Bedminster, NJ. He is currently the Chief Medical Officer at RAPID Pharmaceuticals in Rockville, MD.
