Dr. Kifle W. Hagos grew up in Eritrea, Africa. He graduated from junior college in Industrial Chemistry in Ethiopia then worked for four years as a sugar processing supervisor. He studied geology in Moscow, Russia. After graduating, he joined the Eritrean youth movement in Europe working as a community organizer, then returned to Eritrea and was a leader in the liberation movement. After independence in 1991 he joined the Department of Marine Resources and Inland Fisheries where he was Director of Fisheries Management. Dr. Hagos moved to the USA and completed an MA in environmental studies at Brown University and a Ph.D. in environmental sciences at the University of Rhode Island with focus on fisheries/aquaculture. After a long journey and great instability in Eritrea, he became a US citizen early in 2012.
Dr. Hagos is a candidate for the Assistant Research Scientist in Ecological Aquaculture position.
